First AD experience bad with Wellbutrin SR

Posted by dragginfly on March 18, 2002, at 2:55:15

I've found 'normality' through hormone regulation -- first birth control
pills, then Depo-Provera, both of which alleviate what I can only describe as
24/7 PMS -- and a few years of counseling. I still had low-level depression, though.
I finally decided to try an anti-depressant medication.
My GP put me on Wellbutrin SR 150. Five days of no effects, one week
of extreme exhaustion, then finally I began to feel 'myself' on Day 13
... and on Day 16 had an allergic reaction (hives, itching,
my whole face blew up like a balloon). What now?

The best effect of the WB, once it kicked in, was to keep me from being angry.
Now that I'm off it again, I realize that's my normal operative mode:
just-below-the-surface anger more than despair or sadness. Should I try another AD?
