John,
Glad to hear that you've taken Zyprexa and liked it. I found it OK also ... when I first started taking it, it was great in helping me get to sleep, but that positive benefit soon wore off and I don't think it's doing a thing for my anxiety.
The *old* pdoc had me increase the dose a couple of times and when I got to 7.5 mg/night it became a disaster, too much - zonked me out and made me MORE depressed. What dose of Zyprexa are you on?
To answer your question - the primary motivation behind my new pdoc swapping so many medicines is because the combo of EffexorXR-Zyprexa-Klonopin was proving to be of minimal help and definitely did NOT keep me on an even keel. I was cycling up and down, up and down. I'm not sure why the new pdoc didn't just add the Lithium (mood stablizer) to address the cycling issue. Perhaps because I'm still depressed and still anxious.
No, I wouldn't say that the new pdoc just *insisted* that I take the new meds.
I did not communicate any favoritism towards the meds I've already been taking because I do NOT feel any favoritism toward them! Meaning that they have not done well for me, so it is time for some changes, but with change comes apprehension so I figured I'd try to find out other people's experiences with what for me are brand new meds! Hope this makes sense!
