Hi,I take 400 mg topamax/day, which is about the
max dose, with no cognitive decline. It has
stunted my appetite. You just need
to try it to see what it does for you. Talk to
your doc.It may replace the neurontin as a different
anti-convulsant type mood stabilizer, but it
really isn't in the same class as the other meds.
Also your results may very with respect to how
well the medicine stabilizes your mood. Topamax
isn't my main line mood stabilizer, just an
adjunctive medicine.-John
> I am severely overweight diagnosed bipolar II looking into taking Topamax. I currently take Effexor XR, Geodon, Valium, and Neurontin. I know I need to talk to my doctor, but what medicine would Topamax replace and has anyone had a good reaction to Topamax? I'm really concerned about the cognitive slowness that has been reported in some instances.
