Really must underscore what's been said here- I 've had a GP who had stubborn and unyielding opinions which directly contrasted with my own good reason, instinct and common sense.Eventually, I applied the same logic as is recommended for antidepressant trials: if, after an adequate length of time and at an adequate dose, no improvement (or worsening)occurs, a switch is appropriate.
Seems you've had more than an adequate dose of this GP, and for long enough.
You really need to feel some kind of rapport, and that he/she is willing to consider your opinions and feedback.This is obviously lacking here.
Also, insist on getting a psychiatric referral, if you aren't already seeing one.You'll feel so much better speaking to somebody who is both knowledgeable and sympathetic.Wishing you well.
