Thyroid affected by Rivotril

Posted by Squiggles on March 5, 2002, at 21:13:48

Hi folks,

Since reinstating the Rivotril (1.0mg) -
a necessary thing after experiencing severe
withdrawals for a year, I find that it
has had an unexpected effect on my thyroid
function. My recent TSH, T4 tests, dropped
even lower than a month ago, which was when
I reinstated at full dose. Of course lithium
always brings the the thyroid down, but
this has added an extra punch.

My doctor is reluctant to raise it in case
these are fluctuations (last TSH level 12.9,
the one before 5.6); we did try a slight increase
but it gave me heart palpitations and panic;
maybe not even a hypothyroid problem.

I have a weight problem, and I am presently
trying to drop some tonnage in the hope that
this will boost my TSH power.

sorry for the excessive verbiage;

Squiggles
