Sure, they could. The metabolites nortrip. and desipramine favor the noradrenergic system. The parent drugs Imipramine (esp.) and Amitriptyline tend to block reuptake of serotonin and noradrenaline. Have you ever considered adding a small amount of an SSRI (Zoloft, i.e.) to the nortripytline or desipramine?
