The medication I've been taking for depression has been adversely affecting my cognition and has been worsening some of my long-time ADD symptoms. The medication that had worked the best in the past was Dexedrine (d-amphetamine); I don't feel safe adding this to Nardil (phenelzine; an MAOI).¹ I have been trying to think of alternatives...
* methamphetamine
* Ritalin (my pdoc suggested this, but I didn't respond to well to it before.)
* Wellbutrin (I don't remember this working at all.)
* Cylert (I'm concerned about efficacy; pdoc concerned about liver problems.)
* Dopamine Agonists ² (Have these been known to work at all?)
* amantadine (Unsure of efficacy.)Any additions or comments? I will probably try Cylert first, so any information or experiences would be helpful. Thanks!
¹ I'm well aware that the combination of a lot of these and Nardil is usually contraindicated, but such combinations are used, usually without complications.
² Probably Mirapex (D2/D3 agonist). Might pergolide or another D1 agonist be a better choice?
