The next step

Posted by Michael D on February 12, 2002, at 22:38:04

I've worked myself up to 60 mg of Celexa (with supervision of my GP), and I'm wondering where I should go now.

The medication has definitely affected me, but I think my body (through anxiety) is keeping the undepressed me at bay.

I've tried Serzone and Paxil before Celexa. My question is; What should be my next move?

1.) Try MAOIs
2.) Try Effexor (if I understand correctly, it affects more than just Seratonin levels (I came off Serzone because of side-effects).
3.) Trycylics (sp?)
4.) Lithium augmentation
5.) Another type of augmentation.

My gut feeling is that I should try lithium augmentation. My reasons follow:

1.) It takes far less time to try Lithium than to come off Celexa and try another type of Anti-D.
(I will get a Pdoc in 5 weeks)

2.) Lithium has some anti-anxiety effects (I learned that on this list.)

3.) I don't really want to try something that does the same thing (increase seratonin), only differently.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Michael D
