Effexor and Trazodone together?????

Posted by blondemomints on February 2, 2002, at 18:41:05

I have been taking Effexor XR (just tirated up to 150 mg today) and have been doing pretty good on it so far, other than headaches and not sleeping well....but having always had insomnia, that's not really Effexor's fault.

I've been reading alot on Trazodone helping for insomnia and I know it's mainly used for depression.
I'm really getting addicted to taking Xanax and Vistaril combined to "knock" me out some to sleep.
The thoughts of depending on Xanax frightens me.

I was thinking of trying to replace my sleep cocktail with Trazodone if it's just as effective. But can you take Trazodone and Effexor XR together?

Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated!
