I read about it recently. Bifrontal is supposed to have approximately the same effectiveness as the older bilateral ECT. But without the strong amnesia and memory side effects of the old, conventional bilateral ECT. Both bilateral and bifrontal ECT are supposed to have superior efficacy in creating full remission of depression compared to unilateral ECT. Unilateral has low memory side effects, but low efficacy at creating a lasting remission.
