Hmmm...guess I haven't thought of Modafinil as a drug that required steady and sustained dosing in order to work well. I thought of it more as Ritalin, which my P-doc told me to take PRN.
For me, the anxiety seems to come first, gradually building up over several weeks. The constant onslaught of catecholimines exhausts me and I collapse into depression. I'm not a scientist, just how it feels to me.
If I'm not mistaken, Adrafinil is not available in the US. Seems I've seen on this board comments that it acts differently from Modafinil.
Anyway, thanks for the input.

When I ran out of my supply cause of an ordering mix-up, the benefits I had from it took about a week to fade. Starting up again, it still took the regular time to work again.

A drug interaction program I have doesn't mention either an inhibition of an increase of taking benzos or modafinil together. They are thought to work on different pathways of the brain besides. I used alprazolam (Xanax) once with the adrafinil when I had a migraine & wanted to get a good night's sleep. No problem with it. Adrafinil doesn't interfer with my sleep anyway but I wanted to fall asleep quickly.

I get psyched up too easily & answers I'd know the night before would otherwise fly out my brain from nerves. I had the focus that Dexedrine brings to me but the calmness of the benzo. Long-term use of adrafinil does that for me now much smoother & better without wearing off. I'm not using Dexedrine or benzos now with the adrafinil.

> Has adrafinil/modafinil been useful for you? And do you take it regularly? Different posters here have found different effects. Manowar & a few others besides me swears by it. 3 Beer Effect & some others say it does nothing or had unpleasant side effects for them. I'm sure it has to be used long-term like ADs for proper success with it, not a quick effect like benzos or stims.

I have PRN Rxs for stimulating drugs (modafinil, ritalin) and also Benzos (Ativan), but sometimes don't know which one I need. Am I correct in assuming that one would counteract the other making it counterproductive to take both?
