I don't think it's first line. I think it works for some people who have ADHD because it calms them down and let's them focus. But in inattentive people who zone off and daydream a lot I really don't see it helping. I take Adderall in the morning and am prescribed clonidine to help me sleep. I have taken it awhile so the sedative effect has worn off. It doesn't help focusing whatsoever for me. I know it's used in some ADD cases, but I can't see why from my experience with it. But like I always say, everyone responds differently to meds and you never know what will work.
