I actually don't agree with much of anything that you've written above. For example regarding SSRI type ADs, if I was the prescribing pdoc, I would definitely try different ADs depending on the type of depression. Prozac and effexor are very different drugs.


Why do you say that MAOIs require extensive diet and lifestyle modification? I think that is really not accurate that there are huge dietary restrictions on nardil, anyway. I was on it for years and learned over time that I needed to maintain no diet restrictions.

As to "extensive lifestyle modifications", I can't even begin to imagine what you mean. I would say that nardil gave me a down period in the afternoon when I became very sleepy and larger doses of nardil do effect sleep rhythms. But there's no way that I would say I had to make extensive changes in the way I lived. I have to make many more and more difficult changes with depression.
