I had the "brain surges", dizzieness, feeling of exhaustion and downright nasty acting. I got angry and tracked down the phone number for Pfizer (mfger. of zoloft). I ended up filing what Pfizer calls a safety report. The phone number is (800)223-0432. On 12/26, I am to call back to another and concerns. I am angry that zoloft is handed out with such frequency and disregard for the end result - withdrawal. My doctor was less than helpful in withdrawal suggestions. It was not until I search one day and found this message board. I was so relieved to hear that I was going crazy. Please, please contact Pfizer and file a safety report. The only thing that is going to force them to change their advertising and information dissemination is public outcry. Please, please call them. God bless.

Hi Jane,
Know just how you feel, I made the same report to Pfizer regarding Geodon (it put me into a hypomanic mixed state with panic). This report leads to a compulsory report from Pfizer to the FDA and your doc. will get a request for further details, so plan on a call from your doc. Along with action from the FDA the lawyers specializing in class action suites get into the act (avoid this the lawyers get the money you get next to nothing). Also remember the FDA is really just a labeling agency (we would all be better off if they just labeled cans of corn in the grogery store), and the docs either don't know or won't tell you about withdrawal symptoms - ITS A CONSUMER'S MARKET out here. Paxil is now involved in a class action suite regarding withdrawal and I believe Effexor will be next. The best way to come off SSRIs is to do a direct cross over to Prozac (be sure there are no problems with other drugs you are taking), derease Prozac slowly for 2 weeks then just stop the Prozac.
Best of Luck
