Adding Desipramine to Effexor

Anyone know if I can take effexor and desipramine together? I would add the desipramine for energy as the effexor makes me quite sleepy. thanks for any info. My doc wants me to add wellbutrin, but I know from previous experience that desipramine give me energy and would rather go with something that works. This is my idea not docs, so I'm not sure if it is safe. Thanks in advance.
