In reply to Re: To Cloud 9 How are you making out with tinnitus?, posted by Cloud 9 on November 30, 2001, at 23:47:50

To Cloud 9, Hi, the tinnitus is finally beginning to subside a bit for me to. Its now down to a quiet pulsating wisper. The worst part is my fear of it elevating, and constantly checking to see where its at. I'm hoping it will completely pass in time, and I can get on with my life. Right now I am only taking lorazepam (3 mg daily if needed) most days I take 2 mg. SSRI's focus exclusively on seratonin inhibition, and the explanation I got was that the spikes in the seratonin caused the tinnitus. Most people don't have it as long as I have though. Effexor focuses on neoprin, and seratonin, so you may not experience the same surges. It might have been a better choice for me in hindsight. I can't switch right now, as my doc wants me to stay away from anything that effect seratonin. I'm glad yours in subsiding. Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate that.-Mary
