In reply to SHOULD I TAKE PAXIL WITH MY PROZAC?, posted by Joy on November 26, 2001, at 19:42:57
If paxil was working before why don't you go back on it, afterall you were only taking the minimum therapeutic dosage at 20mg. The recommended effacious dose ranges from 20mg to 60mg. Why not try going back on it at a higher dosage of course wait 14 to 21 days until the prozac has completely left your system. I was on Paxil and it helped with my anxiety and depression... unfortunately i went off too soon and relasped. Now on effexor but that's another story. You do know paxil is prescribed for social anxiety, GAD, depression and OCD. So why not kill two birds with one stone and take paxil by itself. Xanax is only a temporary fix and can be quite problematic if you have an addictive personality (not that you do, as you're not taking it often). Sleeping will be a problem at first but nothing too severe. If trazodone isn't working try STARNOC it's relatively new although i'm not sure what the active ingredient is. I took it to ameliorate my erradic sleeping schedule and it worked well although i'm not to sure if it could be used for long term use. I hope you find something that works for you, but taking two ads concurrently seems a little excessive considering you should in theory be able to find ONE that your body responds well to... there's lots out there... all the best and good luck!!!
