anhedonia?

Posted by mist on November 26, 2001, at 23:49:59

Could someone please describe the experience of anhedonia? I think I have it but am not sure. As I understand it, it's the inability to experience or anticipate pleasure (and/or enjoyment?). But what if there's nothing pleasurable about your life? The problem might not be that you have anhedonia but just a bad life (or bad circumstances at the time). Are there particular thoughts that go along with anhedonia? Such as, "Nothing is worth doing because it won't change the way I feel," etc.?

I'm posting this on the meds board because I've read more discussions of anhedonia here than on PSB, so maybe the "anhedonia specialists" hang out here more?
Thank you. -mist
