In reply to Seroquel for cyclothymia?, posted by manowar on November 23, 2001, at 21:30:23

> I've been diagnosed with cyclothymia and ADD. I was taking Wellbutrin for my depression, Klonipin for my mood swings and Adderal XR for my ADD. I was doing pretty well, but I would still have mood swings where I would feel good (not manic) one week and depressed the next...
> My doctor said that klonipin (1.5 mg a day) wasn't a good mood stabilizer and that it was probably adding to my depression. So he switched me from klonipin to seroquel. Isn't that a bit aggressive? I mean I've never even tried a conventional mood stabilizer before and he wants to try me on seroquel? Isn’t that a bit irrational? Thanks - T

I don't think so- seroquel is a very very mild antipsychotic. My son takes 750mg of it, along with geodon for psychosis. The seroquel mixed with the geodon really helps him calm down. It also has anti-depressant properties, but so does the geodon. No, I don't think it's agressive- expensive, yes!! Karen Curtis
