I was on 20mg Celexa, 250 mg Wellbutrin; had sexual side effects from the Celexa; started taking gingko, 240 mgs a day, and it helped - not back to the original level, but it helped quite a bit.
The problem: I was still rather depressed. Pdoc ups the Celexa to 40mg. Less depressed now. However, the sexual dysfunction is back in full force even though I was still taking the gingko.
So I started taking 360 mgs a day of gingko. No dice.
Today I started taking 480 mgs. (four 40mg capsules 3 times a day). I'm hoping it will work (on the assumption that a doubled dose of Celexa might mean a doubled dose of gingko is required to help the sex thing).
However, it's ripping up my stomach (not that all the other meds I'm taking help any in that department). I'm wondering if the gingko will help as much (assuming it starts to help at all, of course)if I take 80mgs six times a day (a pain, but worth it if I can have an orgasm again) to reduce the effect it has on my stomach.
Also, I'm wondering if it's safe to take this much gingko every day. I've heard about 120mgs a day and 240 mgs a day, but I'm taking quite a bit now.
My doctor knows I'm taking gingko, but he didn't inquire as to how much. He told me that the only other option was Viagra, and that would be used right before the act; I'm more interested in something that will increase the drive to something approaching normal for me, as well as restore my ability to orgasm (right now I absolutely cannot, no matter how long I try).
Celexa is the first med that's worked for me after a year and a half of experimenting with different anti-d's, so I'm reluctant to go off it.
Thanks for any help and info you might be able to give.
