Are MAOIS more potent than other ADs ?

Posted by Anna Laura on November 22, 2001, at 1:42:29

I've been on Effexor since the end of July. Feeling slightly better. I had just a few days of good feeling though: i was feeling on my way to be cured, feeling optimistic, but unfortunately it pooped out.
Since i've been suffering from severe psychotic depression episodes i was wondering if i needed something stronger in order to regain the good feeling i experienced days ago. I read somewhere MAOI are more effective for severe depression than other antidepressant. Is that true? Are they relevant research data out there showing this statement? Or may be i just need to stick to effexor raise the dose/augmenting?
Any inputs?

Thanks

Anna Laura
