I can explain my manic episodes by saying: When I am cycling, I can be very down, depressed...then I might have some 'up' days when I am 'happy', in the mood to 'go out', sometimes I even spend too much money and go out shopping. My manic episodes have always been less than my down times.
As for my anxiety attacks...well, what you posted is (in my opinion) more along the lines of a Complusive Behavior Disorder. Anxiety for me is not wanting to go to the mall because there are crowds of people there and my heart could, at anytime, start to beat real fast...I start to sweat, and this FEAR takes over my body and I really feel like I could die. (That is why I carry my xanax EVERYWHERE that I go!!) Some people have Social Anxiety where they say, can't talk in front of a group of people, etc....
Oh and I believe that tinnitus is a ringing in the ears. And I believe that dsthymia is a form of depression where you are real down for weeks and just can't seem to get back up (least that is what a friend told me her shrink told her it was when she was diagnosed with it), with it you are real sullen.

> After reading so many posts, i am just wondering what "mania" is. Also, could someone please explain what exactly the symptoms of "anxiety" are. Is anxiety when you keep thinking about the same thing day after day? I definitley know what the physical part of anxiety are, but not so sure what the mental part of it is. Thanks!
