Hi Anna Laura,
Congrats on finding some things that help you to feel a little better. That is always the start for me. I don't expect a one drug miracle cure but look to ease the symptoms of depression one at a time.
First, Are you taking regular Effexor or Effexor XR? The regular Eff has a short half life, 5+/- 2 hours. At your dose you should be dividing it up and taking 3 doses per day. Even if you are on the XR version you may want to divide the dose. I take Mirapex which has a short half life and I notice if I miss my dose at around 10AM.
It also sounds like you have a type of situational anxiety (the bouts that are triggered by an event). I started taking Zyprexa for the rumnating thoughts you mention but it also worked on reducing my anxiety. It may be helpful to give it a try. You will usually know in less than a week if it is working.
We don't get Reboxetine in the US so I don't have any personal experience with it. You may want to talk to your doctor about finding a med that works on Dopamine. From my experience and some of the other stories here, these meds help out a lot when you are having problems finding joy in things or motivation to get out of the house and do somehting.
So, I would say to start with you should look at spacing out your Efxr doses and talk to your doctor about Zyprexa for the thoughts and anxiety.
Good Luck,
Chris
