Yeah, I just love Mick Jagger, what a cool guy - did you see him on the VH1 concert for New York City? He's 60 or around that age! And still shaking his little skinny booty. Yowza! Gotta love him.

Whereas, I saw the Michael Jackson concert last night (snippets in between "Philly") and just thought, god, he's had so much surgery and botox, he can't even move his face into an expression. The skin is drawn up around his eyes and to the back of his head. And of course the nose job. What a mistake. Why couldn't he keep his black-man nose, he was a DOLL! I saw him when he first went on TV in the '60s, like the Ed Sullivan show, with his brothers, the Jackson 5, we loved him, loved the music, loved the dancing. And now he can't dance as well as before either, he's out of practice I guess.

ANYWAY! (had to get that off my chest!)
I think they still do prescribe Valium, there have been some discussions on the PB board where people mention it as part of their regimen. You can do a search... I have a friend of a friend who has been on it for 30 years. The doctor just keeps giving him the prescription, he's an older gentleman, he lives on a sheep farm, he's not bothering anybody. Sometimes he even SHARES the 'Vitamin V' as we call it. It's a nice high, makes you mellow, just like the other benzos, but in a slightly different way. It's not long-lasting like the Klonopin, not short and jabby like Xanax. I used to have a teacher who was on it when I was in high school, she would give me some (not at school, mind you... I babysat for her kids really often) when I had symptoms of the world speeding up, like everything was happening super-fast around me... I now know this was the BP II, even back then. She knew something was wrong, so she would give me some to calm down, and it did, very well. She was on it for anxiety and insomnia...

Any more pop culture/drug questions? Next discussion: Grace Slick's song 'White Rabbit' (reference to Carroll's Alice in Wonderland) "one pill makes you larger, and one pill makes you small..." The last line: "Feed your head," became the anthem of Haight-Ashbury hippie-radical-druggie-peaceniks everywhere.

Alice in drug-land...

love ya,
Wendy
