I think this question was answered in part in the "Treatment Resistant Depression" presentation. Two of the reasons given:

1. Citalopram will soon come of patent
protection for lower cost.

2. Citalopram has an advantage over fluoxetine
in that its shorter half-life allows for
faster switching to new medications.
