In reply to Paranoia or anxiety?, posted by avr on October 13, 2001, at 21:46:33
> For about 6 months now I've been getting these paranoid feelings. Like when sitting in the front seat of my car I get paranoid that the person in the back seat is looking at me. This is all I can concentrate on, until they leave. If there is someone sittin beside me I really nervous and can't concentrate and I always feel they are looking at me. Also I get fears that people are conspiring against me, like tryin to break in my house and put drugs in my drinks. Is this paranoia or anxiety? I've had social anxiety since age 12 but now I have these problems. Maybe my anxiety got worse? Is this normal anxiety or is it paranoia. please help
Ok, I don't know a lot about you but I will
chime in. I'm leaning towards paranoia,
especially when you start thinking about
conspiracies.I've felt this while on my worst manic
episodes, although there are other things
that can trigger this. Usually the paranoia
is accompanied by anxiety. But for me anxiety
is not always accompanied by paranoia.
A lot of time symptoms of paranoia,
particularly feelings about conspiracies against
you, can be induced by abusing meds like speed
(methamphetamine). Not that either example
is necessarily pertinent to your situation. The other alternative is that you did some
wrong and a group of people are out for
revenge, but I doubt it. You seem kind enough. ;)I would suggest getting into to see
a physician to talk about your feelings.
I think you will get appropriate treatment.good luck,
