I and now my Mom both have PTSD, common thread being sociopathic father/husband. My trigger was a car wreck, hers was the attempted suicide of my sister. We are both on Zoloft 100 mg. Having had this longer than she (almost 10 years now), I have grown accustomed to certain symptoms, physical changes when my brain chems go off balance. She had an atrocious year, starting with a surgery that paralyzed her vocal chords, then another attempted suicide by my sister, then my sister trying to make her think she was senile. She is not. She is depressed, was overmedicated, was on prednisone, and she has PTSD. I took over her care and explained many things to her, got her on the Zoloft. She's doing much better, but having been to the hospital and doctors so much lately, they check her blood sugar levels all the time, and they are extremely erratic. I have a feeling that mine go up and down; I use Spirulina to balance me out. Her, they are calling borderline diabetic and want her on meds for that now. The silly part is that sneaking a candy bar doesn't raise her sugar levels at all, and I have a feeling that this is not true Diabetes, but somehow brain chemistry related. I remember the word glucocorticoids. Does anyone have any information on this or reference material to point me to. I promised her I would check through this wonderful community for her. Thank you.
