My PDoc has added Clomipramine to the mix (for reuptake of the other transmitter - starting with n that I can never remember the name of). I gradually went from 10mg to 20mg and after about 3 weeks I started getting really irritable. I was blowing up at the smallest things and feeling really aggresive. I realise this could definitely by a side effect of the clomirpamine - has anyone else had this effect - and does it eventually go away? (BTW am also taking 2mg of Xanax per day)

I would tell your doctor about it before something bad happens. I narrowly escaped losing my job due to temper episodes occuring due to meds. I doubt if you can translate much of my experience with meds and hostility, but there were three meds I had to stop due to really bad hostility: Buspar, Effexor, and now Remeron. All three of them effect norepinephrine (there's the N word you were looking for). Specifically, the Remeron and the Buspar are alpha2 antagonists which enhance norepinephrine. All I know is that I more than a few times felt like punching my boss square in the jaw on several occasions and got stopped from doing so in one instance by a coworker. Also, you mentioned Xanax. Well that can lower your inhibition (like alcohol). So, possibly you get norepi levels up and throw in a little disinhibition from a benzo and you might get some hostility. I also got quite hostile occassionally when I was taking Valium. I am taking Klonopin now and I don't notice that.
good luck,
Mitch
