A few weeks ago the nurse practitioner I see prescribed Serzone with Wellbutrin for me and got the dose up to 600 mg. I had a lot of bad side effects - dizzy, loss of balance (fell on the floor getting
out of bed one day), extreme fatigue, memory loss, etc. So then she took me off the Serzone in just a few days by cutting 100 off the dose per day. Then right away 5 days later she put me on 20 mg Prozac with
100 mg Wellbutrin. I had had good results with Prozac a long time ago, but I did stress that I only took 10 mg at the time.I started out okay, but in a few days I had this really bad agitated depression. I couldn't stop pacing the floor and couldn't concentrate on anything. I was doing this rapid breathing and pacing the floor and sometimes crying, back and forth, sometimes for 3 hours at a time. I felt so bad I couldn't believe it. I stopped the Wellbutrin, and I
would feel a little better at night, but it would start again in the morning. On the third day of this I ended up going to the emergency room. The doctor in the emergency room said something to the effect
that this hadn't been the best way to prescribe these meds. She thought I might want to try Luvox again, but when I talk to the nurse practitioner, she wanted me to keep trying the Prozac for now.Well, It's not as bad as it was, but I'm still not feeling better, and am now afraid to keep taking the Prozac, but I am for now. Does anyone have any input on this? I would like to get a second opinion
with another doc. But part of the reason I went to the nurse prac. is that I get cheaper care there, and I don't have insurance.I'm going through a lot of this partly because I want to find something that helps with anxiety and depression but doesn't cause so much weight gain. Effexor and Paxil did help when I took them, but I
ended up gaining so much weight it made me feel worse in the long run. This quest for the right meds can really be a pain....
BTW, I just got the bill for the emergency room, and it was for over $500. (Plus they made me wait for 4 hours - argh.)
