There ARE other types of ADs than SSRI, such as the original tricyclics and MAOIs. HOWEVER, many people have trouble using these particular types because of certain side effects. There are also AD like Wellbutrin, which I take, that works differently to achieve its effect. You may also go with a combo or cocktail of meds, which may include a reduced amount of SSRI.
