>in theory 225mg might prove to be more effective than 150mg, but I suspect this might prove useless in practice. By the way, did anyone here use more than 225 for anxiety&tension ?
>My pdoc put me on Effexor to treat comorbid anxiety and depression, so I'm I've got at least a leg in the category you're asking about. Actually, when he was scribbling on his pad he sort of mumbled, "actually, it doesn't do much for depression..." What I've read contradicts his muttered assertion, but what I've experienced comes close to confirming it.
Anyway, to get to your major question: Effexor is an excellent candidate for a dose increase. The people who study these things hypothesize that Effexor works on the serotonin reuptake pump at lower doses (up to about 200mg), and at higher doses the norephinephrine pump as well. If you take about a gram a day, you'll affect the dopamine pump as well, but considering the max recommended dose is 375 q.d....
I really want to write more, but I've got real life calling. But in the mean time, check out www.preskorn.com and in the Columns section look for the one on venlafaxine. It's pretty interesting.
Good luck,
