> I was on Zoloft for post partum depression. IT worked well but after 6 months I became depressed due to the weight gain. I switched to Wellbutrin but the ringing in my ears was too much to bear. I tried Serzone 300mg, now on 400mg - much better with weight control but not as effective. My p-doc has retired and I am trying to get a new one - not easy in CA - but feel really depressed. the old doc said to increase gradually but I just think I should return to Zoloft. It is a no - win situation
Hi Angela,
This is a long shot, but since you responded better to the Zoloft (with exception to weight gain) than the Wellbutrin (right?), maybe you should try a different SSri. Zoloft gets some people to craving carbohydrates (myself included), you might be one of those folks. I have tried all of the SSri's and I found that Celexa had the most appetite suppression of the bunch over the long-haul (months). Here is another suggestion: If you got depressed because of the weight gain, maybe you could see your GP and get a script for Meridia. It is intended for weight loss/appetite suppression but was originally developed as an antidepressant. Who knows, it might work.
good luck,
Mitch
