I was on Pamelor for a while a few years ago. For me, it did not increase my weight or decrease it. I think it did make me feel hungrier, due to the antihistamine effect of it, but that was counteracted by the increased norepinephrine effect I think.I had a lot of initial weight gain on Zyprexa though. But after about 6 weeks it seemed to level off. And with attention paid to what I ate for snacks, and eating less at meal times, I was able to lose all of the weight I had gained (about 15 pounds).
Some people have a really hard time losing weight though. It's different from person to person. We each have such unique chemistry and metabolism. Definitely though, by choosing good snacks, eating less at mealtime, and burning off some calories, the potential to lose weight is good. And if Pamelor makes you thirsty or drymouthed, as it did with me, then try to drink water or juice instead of sodas. Hope something here is helpful to you.
