Wellbutrin: SR to IR!

Posted by sl on August 31, 2001, at 16:08:19

Okay, after much effort and foot-putting-down on my part, I'll be getting back on Wellbutrin IR from SR. from 150mg SR twice a day to 150 IR twice a day. (THEY want me to take 75mg 4x day, but I think if they expect me to remember that, THEY are the crazy ones!)

Does anyone think I should taper up for a couple days, or will the SR have prepared my system well enuf?

Incidentally, anyone who's been following my story knows I was having problems with anxiety on Wellbutrin SR. Well, I consulted with an veteran psychiatric nurse and she said she's heard some [anecdotal] evidence that patients on Wellbutrin SR for a long period of time slowly develop anxiety probs. Que' interesante, no?

I also found out that IR and SR are NOT equivelant...the amounts, I mean. Cuz in the SR, your body doesn't absorb as much of it. So the SR dosage should be MORE, milligrams-wise, than IR. So when they switched me to SR from IR, I probably should have had a greater dosage instead of the same.
