There's no one right answer for most of your questions but I'll take a stab at a few of them.
How long you need to take Prozac or any other antidepressant depends on why you are taking it and, if it is for depression, how many times you've been depressed in the past. The least time is 6 months after you feel better. This leads me to another comment. You said you felt *mostly* better. You should have felt ALL better. It's possible that you should be raising your dose, not quitting.
Things to watch for. One thing that sometimes (sometimes!) happens with these drugs is that they stop working. If that happens switching to one of the many other drugs takes care of it. It won't necessarily happen to you but if it does don't blame yourself, your therapy or your lifestyle. Just get to your doctor.
You'll find a lot of interesting info here but be aware that people post the negative experiences more than the positive. Most of the drugs work for most people most of the time despite anything you read here.
Also you didn't define what you meant by a bad time. That might make a difference.
