Kava Kava (Piper Methysticum)

Induces physical and mental relaxation. Acts as a diuretic and genitourinary antiseptic. Helpful for anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress-related disorders, and urinary tract infections.

Caution: Can cause drowsiness. If this occurs, use should be discontinued or the dosage reduced. **

This is just what I've heard, and it could very well not be totally accurate, but I had read somewhere that one should NOT use kava kava while on pharmaceutical meds, including tranquilizers. However, maybe therr are some meds that it is okay to mix with kava kava. Hopefully others here will have more info.
