Re: Purpose of taking both Wellbutrin and Celexa?

I have SP and dysthymia. I am taking Klonopin for the SP. I am taking Wellbutrin for the dysthymia but chest pains have forced me to cut back the dosage to 100 mg/day of the SR version. I really like it due to the appetite suppressant effects. Wish I could tolerate a higher dose.

Pdoc says Wellbutrin just makes anxiety worse so it is not a good drug for SP. I told her I was taking it for dysthymia, not SP. She wants to use Celexa for the dysthymia (I think) and then use Wellbutrin primarily to offset the sexual and possibly weight effects of the Celexa. I assume I will come out less anxious under this scenario or what is the point of adding the Celexa? Wellbutrin is an AD so it is not as if I have no AD right now. I am just wondering if an SSRI will do something for me emotionally that Wellbutrin will not. Will it make me less rejection-sensitive? Will it take the "edge" off Wellbutrin and let me go to a higher dosage? Or will it just neuter me and make me fat? The suspense....
