I've never heard before that Prozac is a gold standard. It is more activating than Celexa but it makes some people too anxious or jittery.

When I took Prozac, it worked well for 10 months but then became less effective. I didn't want to increase the dose because I had sexual dysfunction, sleeping problems and jitteriness and was afraid that these side effects would increase with an increased dosage.

I have now been on 20 mg Celexa (along with a low dose of SAM-e) for almost 2 years and it works better for me with less side effects.

Although it's true that Prozac works very well for a lot of people, I think that it's an exaggeration to call it the "gold standard".
