> I am new to this so please bear with me. I have been on 6 different antidepressants now and Wellbutrin seems to be doing the best. Although I am not sure of the type of depression I have, I know some need seratonin levels adjusted and then some need dopamine is it? Anyway I am taking 150mg 2x daily of Wellbutrin and I have been on it for 5 months now and I DO NOT SLEEP!!! I have the worst insomnia. Has anyone else had this?I have tried every option to help me sleep except ask for prescription sleeping pills for two reasons:
> First I hate the groggy feeling they give you the next day.
> Second I recently overdosed on prescription sleeping pills.
> HELP!!!
do you take your second dose too late in the evening? i would look for that for starters. that will keep you up for sure, even if you are able to go off to sleep at bedtime...you will probably find yourself waking up after 4 hours. i have had others advise taking the second dose no later that 2pm in the afternoon; 5pm if that is just how it has to be. you might try that.
also, i applaud your wisdom in knowing your limitations (ie: overdosages) i've tried a variety of prescriptive meds for sleep (wellbutrihn is my "main med") you might try drinking chamomile tea at bedtime (i was surprised recently to see that this does in fact work..... i did make mine double strength.. smile) and i have also had success with the herb valerian in capsule form at bedtime. these are two other suggestions. -terra
