RE: Wellbutrin and weight loss. Weight loss is a very common effect of Wellbutrin, that is why it is not to be given to people with known eating disorders. I lost 30 pounds over a few years on Wellbutrin. This may be related to the chemical's similarity to amphetamines, which also cause weight loss.
