In reply to Prozac and Irritability, posted by SalArmy4me on July 24, 2001, at 21:06:32
I would think not. Prozac can cause agitation (both mental and physical)...similar in some cases to irritability. I had physical feelings of agitation and mental agitation at 20mg prozac and so I got lowered to 10mg (which the social worker thought couldn't possibly be helping).
Although sometimes irritability can have roots in depression or hormones (PMS in my case).
I would think a SSRI on the more sedating side of the continum would be better for irritability. I know paxil was very sedating in some ways...made me tired as opposed to the more wired aspects of prozac.> Is there any reason why Prozac should be better at treating irritability than the other SSRI's? http://www.dr-bob.org/tips/split/Fluoxetine-for-irritabilit.html
