Your doctor should have read up more on Prozac Weekly before prescribing it to you or anybody.
Prozac Weekly is indicated only for those who are stable (or in remission) with their depression on 20 mg/day of the regular Prozac.
What you experienced is probably the sudden increase in serotonin effect but not necessarily the "serotonin syndrome" itself.
Pharmacokinetic studies indicate that Prozac Weekly (90 mg) capsule is approximate to 20 mg/day of regular Prozac. If your depression is in remission with greater than 20 mg/day of regular Prozac, you cannot substitute Prozac Weekly.
> My doctor called in a prescription for Prozac Weekly for me. I took it AND THEN went to the internet to read up on. The Prozac weekly website says that it maybe an alternative to people who had been stablized for at least 13 weeks on at least 20 mg. a day. I'm going from NOTHING to 90 mg. Should I be concerned? I feel like shit all day yesterday and upon waking today (nervous, tingly, diarrheak, heartracing), but this is how I normally feel, so maybe it's just me, not the meds.
> I called the docs office yesterday to see if I should be concerned, and they're reply (6 hrs. later) was to come and see him next Monday. Nothing more.
