CFS / FM: Yea, meds!

Posted by Zo on June 17, 2001, at 0:58:50

Here's my mix, after ten years with my pdoc, twenty years of CFS, without relief until Wellbutrin came on in '89. Loved it, but developed a fixed skin reaction.

Mornings: 10mg Dex (3 yrs) 300 mg Effexor (4 years) 2.5 mg Synthroid, 10mcg Cytomel, 100 mg DHEA, 200 mg micronized progesterone & 1 mg estradiol (am post-menopause) and a smidgen of Adderall if I've got a big task ahead. But the Dexedrine was the key that unlocked the mental door, for me. I literally couldn't live without it.

PM: 500mg Neurontin - the end of FM pain! used to be 900 mg (2 years)- 10mg Valium, to get to sleep (replaced ativan, good cognitive effects the next day) & was on 1 Zyprexa for 6 months, fantastic cognitive improvements, started working on my novel again!!! But f-a-t! Easing onto Geodon instead.

Am currently chipping at Darvon to get over a sharp little depressive hump from estrogen drop. Opiates work!

Long post, but incredible, uniformed bias in CFS/FM community re: meds. Good to get it out there!
