> Have you realized that as long as you do a little research on symptoms of different "disorders", you can almost get any drug you want? After my "interview", I started thinking about this. Man, I could have gotten some heavy-duty drugs by just rattleing off certain symptoms. Think of it: there is no blood test to conclusively determine any ailment in particular, there is no physical examination, there are NO tests except for the verbal one. And I never lie, do you? I never exxagerate symptoms, do you? Yeah right! All I would have to do is look bummed out, mention hopelessness, and look like a puppy who has lost his mother. Ne c'est pas?
Cheetah-
Yeah. I had thoughts like that after the "interview" too. Scary isn't it. I think you have to take on more personal responsibility here than with any other kind of doctor and you have to do it when you're least able. Why lie? It's hard enought to make sure that you don't accidentally misunderstand each other. You have nothing but ambiguous words to describe your symptoms but the price of getting it wrong is very high. You can either end up with one of those "heavy duty" drugs that also has heavy duty side effects or you can do without the drug that you really do need and live with the misery of a heavy duty illness. It's so much easier to go in and say "My arm hurts - please X ray it".
