> At what dose and time frame did you feel some theraputic effects of effexor. Even though I feel more general anxiety, seems as if some of my other symptoms have subsided a bit. Does this sound familar at all.

> Dave> I felt some effects at 75 mg, but it did not last long. I went to 150 mg, 75 in the am and 75 in the pm. That made me tired. I started feeling the best results at 225mg, which is suppose to be the dose to get any "good" benefits. It takes awhile. Beleive it or not, I did not have any side effects going from 75 to 150--just tired, and when I went to 225, I did not have any side effects. Within 4 weeks at being at 225mg, my energy level picked up, my anxiety is slim to none. I don't know about you but I am a chronic worrier. I have definitely improved as far as worrying. It has been a miracle for me. I know what you are going thru, it is a tough med to get used to, but it is a good anti-depressant. OH!!! I do have problems going to sleep at night. I take 150 mg in the morning, and 75 in the afternoon. You can really take it however it benefits you best. If it makes you tired, take it at night. If it gives you energy, take it in the morning. The anxiety should go away. I know when I first starting taking it and felt anxious, I was like "I am supposed to be taking this to get rid of the anxiety, and it makes me feel worse" But it does get better.
Sorry to ramble!!!!! Talk to you later!!

I think mine only lasted a week, but each time you increase your dose, you may feel anxious again...but not as bad. It is completely normal what you are feeling. Give the med a chance...however it takes a little while to feel its benefits. You should ask you doctor for Zanax, to help with your anxiety side effects. Thats how I tolerated them...it calms you in minutes! I am sure your doctor will understand. Effexor has done wonders with my anxiety. You may even go through a spell of being tired, or maybe even insomnia, until you reach the dose thats right for you. A lot of people quit Effexor because of its side effects. Hang in there! Oh yea...drink lots of water!!!! I know I wanted to quit taking it, but I hung in there. There are just as many positive things as negative about this med!!! Good Luck!
