> gdog - I tried this combo about 1 1/2 years ago. I found out about Sam-e after reading a book written by Dr Richard Brown at Columbia (I think that's his name). My pdoc at the time refused to sanction what I was doing because he felt he didn't have enough experience with sam-e. At his urging, I wrote Dr. Brown, not really expecting an answer. In fact he called me up at my house on a Friday night a few weeks later and I ended up spending quite a bit of time with him on the phone. I don't know anything about the chemical action of either of these drugs. I can only tell you that he told me there was no reason why I couldn't take them together. I did try them together altho not for very long. I developed some GI tract problems that were not supposed to be a side effect. My internist wanted me to go off sam-e to see if the GI stuff cleared up. The sam-e didn't seem to be working anyway, so I abandoned it.

Good Luck

Mair

I am a relative newcomer to meds (within the last year). I have been through zooloft (left me way too drugged); serzone (no effect) depakote, celexa (both adverse) and paxil (unbearable anxiety). My pdoc has now prescribed wellbutrin, but only after I'd decided to try the natural route with SAM-e (st.johns didn't have any affect either). Can I take wb and SAM-e together? WB is about the only med who's side affects don't frighten the livin' daylights outa me. . .
