In reply to Paxil and Risperdal, posted by EricaS on May 31, 2001, at 16:03:03
> Hi, this is my first post to this board. I take 50 mg of Paxil and 2 mg of Risperdal daily and bedtime. But the Paxil makes me so sleepy and doesn't work well on my depression. I also grind my teeth on it and can't really laugh or cry... I'm just numb. It helps with the anxiety, though. The risperdal was given to me for having visual and aural hallucinations which have now gone away completely. Is anyone else on Risperdal and what are you on it for? I have heard it is also used for bipolar and personality disorders? When I talk to my doctor next I'm thinking of asking if I can try Celexa and Wellbutrin or Effexor since I've heard good things about them. Any and all comments welcome.

> EricaMy ex took risperdal for Borderline Personality Disorder, to help stoip the raging episodes and dysphoria. It really didn't do much except knock him out (suppose that was better than the raging!). He was on a pretty high dose and still tried to commit suicide once, so I guess that speaks to the learned and not biochemical basis of personality disorders, for what it's worth. But I know it's often prescribed for BPD. Zyprexa is also popular for personality disorders.
I also know a woman with ADHD who takes risperdal in conjuction with other meds.
So it appears to have many uses, like so many of these newer-geneeration drugs.
good luck!
