The recent postings that have pointed out all the "horror stories" have me thinking that I should take some time to post what *is* working for me, and working well. It's Zoloft. It's like my best friend, and has given me the fortitude to do things with my life that I never had the courage to do before.
Other than Zoloft pooping out during post-partum, where I got caught up in adding too many other meds which I've now stopped, It's been a miracle for me. It's given me a life where I can ride waves I could never ride before. It gives me perspective, it enables me to be unflappable, to retain my sense of humor and warmth, and just roll with the punches that life brings. I can see things in shades of grey with the medication: everything doesn't have to be binary -- either awful or great, and I can live with it that way. That's the perspective part.
I left my stable, but boring, job at a large corporation to take a big risk joining a high-flying internet services company and went from a mid-level staffie to running all of ops for hundreds of people, then got promoted within 4 months to be the managing partner of an office for this company with revenue responsibility for over $40million. My income tripled. Yet my stress level lessened because I was having a better time, learning more, better utilized, challenged.
I had no illusions. I took that job because of two things. I had a great drug and a great nanny. Since then I've lost the job because of the economy and moved on to a new one. Little less responsibility, same pay though. I have to commute to NYC from Boston to do the work, and my husband is home with the kids. As I said, great drug, great nanny!!
Recently, when I was trying to sort out the other medications I was on that I shouldn't have been, this board and the people on it were a life *saver* to me. You guys are awesome. And Dr. Bob, thanks for making this site possible.
