Let us know how the carafate works for you. My family has a history of GERD and I am having mild panic like attacks (tightness in chest, difficulty drawing a deep breath). It does sound like the nitro actually worked even though it was not the medicine of choice.
I am taking Selegiline--was taking 12 mg day (cutting tablets). I think Selegiline causes a fair amount of physical anxiety. It exacerbates my tightness in the chest and the difficulty drawing a deep breath (or hyperventiling). I take Neurontin with it to help alleviate my physical anxiety problems, but it doesn't completely do the trick without using doses that overly sedate me. I also found that the Selegiline alone would not relieve my mood problems. What the Selegiline did was correct my energy deficit and correct my cognitive impairment problems. It does these two things wonderfully. It also enhances my sexual response (orgasm, not desire). It is stimulating, so no weight gain. It also can make me "edgy" or cause me to engage in "skin picking"--eating cuticles etc. I love the Selegiline and Neurontin combo if I could only manage the physical anxiety problems.
I decreased my dosage of Selegiline recently to 5 mg a day and added Adderal 5 mg a day. This combo has decreased some of the physical anxiety effects (which Selegiline had increased) but makes me feel a bit wired--like I'm riding on empty at full throttle. So I'm not sure where I go from here. I have suggested Pindolol augmentation for the physical anxiety symptoms (I would drop the Adderal), but my pdoc is opposed to it because my pulse is lowish (68-70). I'd welcome suggestions. Like you I have TRD.
