Many are agonists at various 5-HT receptors like buspirone is at the 5-HT1a receptor and many combine antagonist porperties as well to allow the extra 5-HT to stimulate those recptors believed to be involved in mood. Substance P antagonist, as mentioned above is v-interesting and v-effective for anxiety and depression but doesnt work via the normal conventional antidepressant mechanisms.
